Last week our family participated in a homeschool fair with other homeschool families in nearby communities. A homeschool fair is like a science fair, except that your display does not have to be a science display. Besides the displays that each family brought, there were also tables in the middle of the room for anything we wanted to give away for free and we were also allowed to sell used books. Mostly, it was a great chance to meet other homeschoolers and see what kinds of things they are learning about in their homeschools.

Spring seems to have finally come to Saskatchewan! With the warmer weather comes all sorts of wonderful learning opportunities and teachable moments that we don't get at other times of the year. Continue reading to see three reasons why I love homeschooling on the farm in spring.
I told you about our trip to the Discover the Farm Exotic Animal Sale and how we brought home two pet rabbits. Now it is time to up-date you on how those rabbits have become an amazing homeschool project! Let's call it Operation Population :)
Yesterday when I was in the city I bought a Mini Ant Factory for the kids! It is made by GeoSafari and is the smaller version of their full-size Ant Factory, but it has already provided much entertainment and learning!
Last week I took a break from blogging. Since it was Easter, I called it my Easter break :) This post is heavy on the pictures, as I promised to take lots of pictures to show you why I was too busy to blog last week :) We had a lot of fun and I hope you enjoy our pictures too!
As crazy as it sounds, our family likes to go camping in fall, after harvest is over. This year harvest lasted longer than usual and we went on our fall camping trip in mid-October! I packed the snowsuits, but thankfully we didn't need them, although it did get pretty cold!
Animals often play a big part in our dot-to-dot homeschool life! They provide some great hands-on, real-life learning! And lots of fun too!
Our cat had kittens this year and my children are thrilled! They spend many hours out in the barn playing with them. Often they will run into the house yelling, "Mom! There's a really cute picture in the barn! Can I borrow the camera?" It still makes me a little nervous to hand my camera over to my kids, but I have been showing Princess how to use it and how to take care of it properly and she has shown me that she can handle it. So, she has been borrowing the camera and has taken LOTS of pictures of the cats. She has taken some good pictures too. To encourage her, (and sneak some extra "school" in), I asked her if she would like to share her pictures with my readers and type something up about the kittens. She was very happy to do that. Here is her very first blog post :) Homeschooling is a lifestyle for us and we try to use everything we do as an opportunity to teach the children, even over the summer months when we don't have much of a school routine. Let me show you some of what we did in summer school this year!
We went on our first field trip of the new school year yesterday. We went to the lake. Yep, I consider that a field trip. We believe that every experience in life is an opportunity to learn something. So, what did we learn at the lake?
