My children don't just build with their LEGO, although that in itself is educational! (Creativity when there are no instructions and learning to read instructions are both important benefits!) The whole time our children are building with LEGO they are making up stories to go along with what they are building. After they have built something new, they bring out previous LEGO creations that they have built and they set up a whole LEGO town on the kitchen table.
I love listening to the stories they come up with while they play with their LEGO! I use to wish I could record their stories some how, and then I came up with a brilliant plan! Not only can I record their stories, but I can make it into a school project too! What was the brilliant plan? The kids started their own LEGO blog!
I have to admit that it was not completely my idea. One day I found this blog: Minifig Homeschool Adventures, a blog about a six year old's LEGO minifigures and their adventures. When I showed it to my kids they asked if they could start a LEGO blog too. (Really, I guess it was their own brilliant plan, but they did not realize the educational potential in it when they asked. Hehe!)
