We are reading through the Little House on the Prairie books in our homeschool right now. I actually never read the books when I was a kid, but I always loved the TV show. I am enjoying reading the books with my kids and at the same time I have introduced them to the shows I loved as a kid, (and still love!) :) This page is for the resources I have found that go along with what we are learning as we go through Little House on the Prairie. (Most resources can be ordered from Amazon.com or Amazon.ca, whichever you prefer. Amazon is one of my affiliate links. Anything you buy through these links will earn me a commission. If you decided to order through my blog, I thank you for your support!)
My first resource for you are my blog posts :) I am looking forward to sharing what we do as we read through our Little House books! I will add my posts as they go live.

My husband had the boxed set when we got married and that is what we are reading through. You should be able to get any of these books from your public library, but I have to admit that I love having the boxed set to keep for ourselves! There are 9 books in the series - Little House in the Big Woods, Little House on the Prairie, Farmer Boy, On the Banks of Plum Creek, By the Shores of Silver Lake, Little Town on the Prairie, These Happy Golden Years, The First Four Years.

If you are like me and love the Little House on the Prairie TV series you can buy the complete 9 season set! At the moment I am borrowing them from a friend, but I have let it be known that I would sure like to have my own copy of the set if anyone feels like getting me something like this for Christmas... ;)
You can get each season individually too.

There is also a special Christmas edition DVD.

*If you want to order the individual seasons from Amazon.ca, rather than from Amazon.com, please let me know and I would be happy to get the links for you to order from Canada! I would have posted both .ca and .com here, but I wasn't sure how to do that without making it too cluttered.

The Little House Cookbook is great to add in some real-life learning! It is perfect for those moments when you are reading about Grandma making hasty pudding for supper and your daughter says, "Why can't we ever have just pudding for supper?" When that came up in our house, I got out our Little House Cookbook and we made hasty pudding for lunch :) |
The Little House Crafts Book has 18 crafts taken straight from the pages of the Little House books! You can make Charlotte's Straw Hat, Ma's Embroidered Pillow-Sham, Mary's Christmas tassles and more! |

This is one Little Resource that we don't have, but it would be nice to be able to learn the songs that are mentioned in the books. Also, if you are using the Prairie Primer (below), it utilizes the Songbook. |
Here are some resources that are especially helpful for homeschoolers who are studying the Little House on the Prairie books.
The Prairie Primer is a full curriculum to go along with the Little House books. The Little House on the Prairie Home School Workbook was written by a homeschool mom who wanted something to go along with their own study of the Little House books. |

You can make paper dolls, just like Laura and Mary did! You can buy a book of them from Amazon, or even check out these ones that I pinned.

Here is some extra Little House fun! Let your kids dress up like Laura and Mary,
or dress their dolls up like the Little House characters!
