Even though Munchkin is the only one of my children who really likes to do workbooks, I still try to find fun ways for her to learn and practice, rather than just using the workbook. Pinterest has made that easy to do! Just type in "place value" in the Pinterest search box and you will find some great ideas! I have a few pinned on my Math Fun board. Here are the activities Munchkin has been doing to help her learn about place value.
Another day we used Decimal Street again, but instead of the blocks, we used play-doh and beads. Munchkin rolled the play-doh into balls and stuck a skewer in the play-doh. We put the play-doh on Decimal Street, one in each house; the units, the tens and the hundreds. Munchkin then put beads on the skewers to represent the numbers of values that were in each place.
