Cypress Hills has an amazing nature center! It was a great chance for the kids to see some of the wildlife that I was hoping we could avoid in real life, like a cougar. They also got to go inside a beaver hut, learn about the water cycle and learn some of the history of the Natives who used to live in the area.
On one of the interpretive hikes we learned that lichen is edible. We all tried some and Little Man decided he liked it and spent the rest of the hike collecting and munching on lichen!
One of our hikes took us near some cabins and the kids noticed a wooden teepee set up in one of the yards. When we got back to our campsite they set about making their own teepee at our campsite. (Now they want to make one at home too!)
